What is hemp?

Hemp is one of Mother Nature’s most versatile plants and carbon dating provides evidence of its human use as many as 8000 years ago. It is robust in nature and can grow quickly in a variety of climates.

Specifically, hemp refers to the seed and fiber components of the Cannabis L. Sativa plant, as opposed to the buds and flowers which are used in marijuana cultivation; the former is categorized as industrial hemp. It is now legal to grow industrial hemp in certain parts of the U.S. under strict government regulations.

Hemp has a treasure trove of everyday uses for individuals and manufacturers alike. Its strong fibers are used to make fuel, rope, clothing, paper, building materials, and more. Additionally, the seeds of the hemp plant are highly nutritious and an excellent source of plant protein and fiber. Hemp is truly a great answer to questions of sustainability and environmental responsibility across many fields of commerce. In addition, Hemp provides different health benefits.

What is CBD?

The Cannabis L. Sativa plant contains cannabinoids. These are live, phytochemicals that interact with the human endocannabinoid system (ECS) to trigger a myriad of wellness benefits. The endocannabinoid system is responsible for regulating many bodily functions and helping to maintain homeostasis.

CBD or Cannabidiol is the second most abundant cannabinoid found in the hemp plant. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive and produces no “high” whatsoever. It has been linked to a litany of health benefits, both physiological and psychological, through its prolific interaction with the body’s endocannabinoid system. In order to remove CBD, it must be extracted from the hemp plant. There are a few extraction methods available today, but the cleanest, most effective, and most sustainable is CO2 supercritical extraction. In order to separate CBD from any traces of THC, it must be isolated. Allure Hemp uses only CBD isolate that is 100% free.
